Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions.

The Foundation

When was the Foundation founded?
In 2008. A group of volunteers saw that working together, through advocacy and support, was the most effective way to meet hard challenges.
Who inspired the Foundation?
We are driven by the memory of Kaytya, our founder's younger sister. Her story is on the In Her Honor page.
What can I donate?
We accept online gifts, gently used clothing, unopened hygiene products, food, school supplies, and donated professional services. See Our How.
How do I become a partner or sponsor?
Follow the steps on the Partnerships and Sponsorships pages, or email Info@CatchAFallingStarFoundation.com.

Unhoused, But Still Human

How does the project support people facing homelessness?
It provides shelter, support and dignity. Our services include outreach, shelter and accommodation, basic necessities, support services and advocacy for policy change. See the program page.

UnBound

What should I do if I suspect human trafficking?
In an emergency, call 911. To report a tip or ask for help, contact the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888. Do not confront the person you suspect.
Who can be a victim of trafficking?
Anyone, of any age, gender or background. More in the UnBound FAQs.

Beauty, Brains & Business

When do applications open?
Once a year, in September. Awards are made by March 8 of the following year.
What can the funds be used for?
To start a business or attend school within 10 months of the award. Recipients need a plan for sustaining the business or education after the funds are used. See the program page.
